DESIGN STUDY OF AN ORPHANAGE IN HASAN ABDAL

This design study for an orphanage project in Taxila, Pakistan was foreseen to grow over a decade providing a nurturing environment for young girls. The design investigated vernacular building typologies, sustainable green techniques, and optimum functional and circulation schemes. Catering to the living and educational needs of 50 girls, the building was supposed to be a self sufficient, sustainable building with its own solar energy, water and garbage recycling and urban farming.
