Khalikdina Hall & Library – Interior Restoration & Renovation – An Inclusive Multi Cultural Public Space, Karachi
A landmark restoration project, the interior renewal of Khalikdina Hall & Library transforms a historic site into an inclusive, multicultural public space in the rapidly evolving city of Karachi. This Interior restoration was led by SAP in collaboration with Numaish Karachi, supported by the Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC), the Cultural Protection Fund (CPF) – UK, and the British Council.
This initiative goes beyond physical restoration—it revitalizes both tangible and intangible heritage, breathing new life into Karachi’s cultural landscape. SAP envisioned the process as a collaborative effort, uniting architects, artists, para-architects, engineers, craftsmen, and local government stakeholders, who upheld a shared vision, “Together we create an open, diverse, and dynamic public space for the citizens of Karachi”.
The restoration process demanded meticulous coordination, daily communication, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. SAP and Numaish Karachi ensured seamless teamwork, fostering mutual trust and dedication towards a common goal. Through rigorous planning and hands-on craftsmanship, Khalikdina Hall now stands as a testament to collective effort and cultural resilience.
